About RoofingRecord

RoofingRecord is an independent directory of Tennessee roofing companies, built from public records and run by one person in Columbia, Tennessee.

Why it exists

After a hailstorm a homeowner has a week to make a five-figure decision, usually with a stranger on the porch. The facts that would help are public and scattered: whether the company holds a Tennessee licence, whether the job even needs one in that county, whether the city wants a permit, what actually fell on the roof and when, and what the law says about cancelling. This site puts them on one page per town.

Who runs it

Jesse Haynes, a software builder in Maury County. Not a roofer, not an insurer, not affiliated with the Board for Licensing Contractors or any city or county. The same approach runs SepticRecord, its sister directory for septic installers and pumpers.

How it makes money

Today it does not. The plan is simple and will be labelled when it happens: when a homeowner asks for quotes, the request goes to roofers based near the property, and roofers may pay to receive those requests. Placement in the directory is not for sale, ordering is alphabetical or by distance, and no company can pay to have a licence status, a storm record or a permit rule changed.

What it will not do

  • Invent a phone number, a price or a review score.
  • Badge a company as verified without a state record behind it.
  • Sell your details to anyone other than the roofers your request is sent to.
  • Call a company unlicensed because we could not find its licence under one name.
